Rushmore Shadows Resort, Rapid City South Dakota
This park was planned as one of our main parks on the trip in order to see the area. My
parents stayed her a few years ago and highly recommended it. Our plan was to visit Mt. Rushmore, along with Custer State Park, the Black Hills and more.
Rushmore Shadows Resort is very nice, and has a long list of amenities. We stayed in the front in the long pull through sites, and from what I understand is a newer section. There are several areas in the park, along with cabins. Amenties include a pool, mini-golf, laundry, sports courts, playground and even glamping options in covered wagons!
Rushmore Shadows Resort is located just 10 minutes from Mount Rushmore and 15 minutes from Custer State Park. It is centrally located within an hour’s drive of Rapid City, Hill City, Keystone, and Custer. It is a great base to visit all of these towns and parks.
Note: We are here a week before Sturgis rally and the park is filling up with some really nice bikes and trikes. So plan your trip accordingly or there might not be any openings. 
And if you have a big dually or RV, you probably won’t fit through the small tunnel on the Needles Highway – we didn’t try.
