River Road Campground, Luverne Minnesota
We went a little out of our way to get to this campground – I didn’t realize it when planning the trip on RV Trip Planner. But it turned out to be a great stop.
River Road Campground is a very small campground that has no office or onsite management that we saw. Reservations were made through HipCamp. So just pulled into our assigned site (luckily I had it written down on our calendar). It is a pull through site but we unhooked to go explore.
The campground has some full hookups, and some without sewer, but they have a dump station. There are lots of trees, and there is a pond we had a view from across the street.
The town of Luverne is small, and there are some neat old building, but things are limited. We tried to find a sit down restaurant, and could only find Tasty Drive In, which was good. People were very friendly. We wandered over to Bomgaars and found a great sale on cute garden decor (now to find out where to put them to get them home!). Then we went to the local Ace Hardware, which had a great selection of faith based decor.
We decided to head to Take 16 Brewing as the website said they had pizzas – but they are frozen. They also had handmade ice cream sandwiches, which were great. So dinner was from a food truck from across the street at a catering company – it was good.
There is Blue Mounds State Park nearby which is known for the rocks and prairie grasses.
