Bandon Oregon is a quaint little town on the Oregon Coast, south of Coos Bay. There is a “Bandon by the Sea” area with fun things for us tourists to enjoy. Unique shops and galleries, located by the towns small marina. This is a small town and we found that many places closed by 4pm, so make sure you get there early enough to wander the town before they close. Some of these fun stops include:
Fish & Chips Chowder House in Bandon Oregon
We return to this place every time – the best Fish & Chip in the area. We also enjoy the clam chowder. Small sitting area inside, but a nice area outside to enjoy lunch and the sun.
Cranberry Sweets
Bandon is known for their Cranberry production. Driving around the area you can see the fields where they are growing. Cranberry Sweets carries all things cranberry, and more. You can enjoy very generous samplings of many of their products throughout the store. Cookies, fudges, jelly, chocolates, popcorn and more. Definitely worth wandering through the store and checking out the selection.
Big Wheel General Store
This is a fun place to shop – Big Wheel General Store has a little bit of everything with a lot of choices on clothing. They also make their own fudge, and have a variety of souvenirs. Upstairs they have a museum and gallery with many unique items.
Face Rock Creamery
Face Rock Creamery which specializes in handcrafted gourmet cheeses and have a great place to sample & buy – along with watching them make the cheese right there. The store is located on Hwy 101 in Bandon.
Face Rock State Park
There is a Beach Loop Drive to explore just south of town, where you can access the beaches – and see Face Rock. Take a look at the photo – you will see the face. Legend has it that you can hear a woman’s voice in the wind and see her face in the rock.
Misty Meadows
This wonderful place Misty Meadows is located just south of town on the freeway – Hwy 101. They have been making jam and jelly since 1970, using their own original recipes with no coloring agents, preservatives, corn syrup or other fillers. This is another stop we make each time we visit – to pick up our favorites and try new ones. They even have a selection of sugar-free product – something that is not easy to find!
