Valley of the Rogue State Park Oregon
We really enjoy staying in Valley of the Rouge State Park on our way out of California to the Oregon coast or Washington, or on our way back to California. The first time we stayed here several years ago, the blackberry bushes were thick with unpicked blackberries. We had a delicious cobbler with those! We have returned to this park several times. These photos are from the last trip we took – as you can see we timed the whole “fall color” timing just right!
Valley of the Rogue Park has both a day-use picnic area and an overnight campground along three miles of shoreline on the Rogue River. It is beautiful just to walk around the park and see the river.
Valley of the Rogue is about halfway between Grants Pass and Medford off of Highway 5. It is just north of the little town of Rogue River.
2023 Update
We stopped at Valley of the Rogue on our way to the Oregon Coast this year. It’s not so green and lush in the middle of the summer. And as we had a wet spring, the berries were not ready in July when we were there. It is still a nice park but will think twice about staying again now that the state has added an “out-of-state fee” for us to stay in state parks. They also stated a 4 p.m. check-in time, which is late for the way we travel. We showed up early and our site was empty, so it wasn’t an issue this time.
