Cromberg California
After leaving Fernley Nevada, we headed to Cromberg to stay for Labor Day weekend, plans we made with family before we took off on our cross-country trip. It was questionable whether we would be able to go with the Dixie fire nearby, but the fire stayed far enough away that the area was not evacuated. We stayed at Golden Coach RV Park.
The park was more like camping than an RV park, which was a nice change-except for the dirt getting everywhere part! Lots of tall trees… and dirt. We had not one but two escorts to find the site and park (made my parking assistant job easier!). Very nice people at the park, and in spite of the park being full, it was pretty quiet all weekend. The restrooms and cafe were closed, but they had a dog park, a volleyball area, and horseshoes. The sites have full hookups, and the park has wifi, which worked on and off during our stay.
The closest town is Graeagle, which has some cute little stores and a small but well-stocked grocery store with a butcher counter. The kids went horseback riding at a local stable. We all had lunch at the Graeagle Fros-Tee – and it was really good too.
We were unable to visit the local lakes as that is where the fires were, but after 3 months on the road, it was nice to just kick back and relax!
When driving around, we found a couple of nice RV parks in/near Graeagle also – Movin West RV Park and Little Bear. But we will definitely return to Golden Coach.
