Jamaica Beach and Galveston Texas

Jamaica BeachJamaica Beach RV Resort

After our stay in Palacios Texas we drove up to Jamaica Beach, outside of Galveston.  This stop wasn’t planned originally on our trip, but when watching HGTV after we started our trip, they had one of the shows looking at houses on the beach on the island, so we decided to add this stop as it looked nice.  We are so glad we did!  We stayed at Jamaica Beach RV Resort, a nice park with lots of amenities, especially for kids.

At the park, everyone in the office is so very nice and helpful.  And this park has mini golf, a lazy river, indoor spa, a beach pool and other pools – including an adult pool.  For smaller kids a splashpad, playgrounds and bounce houses, all the games like horseshoes, shuffleboard, life size chess and more.  They even have outdoor movies every night.  And then all the regular stuff, laundry room, exercise room, wifi, cable.  It really is nice!  We could tell the kids in the park were loving it.

Water was so warm even John got in!

The park is right across the street from the beach.  We wandered down to the beach after arriving and actually got in the water as it was so warm.  We drove around looking at the area – the houses are fun to look at also.  This has been the first time it hasn’t been miserably hot or miserably humid (yes still humid, but not as bad) on our trip.  Was nice to get out.  There are a lot of places along the road to get to the beach, many you can just drive up and park on the beach.

Sunset on drive back from Galveston

Galveston

After visiting the beach, we took a drive back into Galveston to look around.  We stopped at Pleasure Pier hoping to walk around and look in the shops and maybe find something to eat.  We were surprised that they charge just to walk in, and a lot of the rides were not even running!  So we continued on our way.  We drove around until we found a restaurant to eat dinner.  Salsas – it was ok.  I’ve been wanting shrimp tacos, and they had them.  I was disappointed that they never brought my margarita though!
